Collection agency threatening to garnish my wages

Hello all. I took a few classes from the scam artists known as University of Phoenix. I dropped my two classes after a few weeks and the school notified me that they had returned my federal loan in full and that I had to pay $2210 in full immediately. I sent them a dispute letter and within days they turned me over to a collection agency. This collection agency (Reliant) left a message with a co-worker with a phone number to call them back. The person from collections also said if I had any question I could speak to the woman who does payroll for my company. (They mentioned her by name.) When I called the agency back, they said that my wages could be garnished if I didn't pay the amount in full. The woman also said that they had sent a fax to my payroll department in the attention of (payroll person's name) and repeated the company's payroll fax number to me! What can I do about this?

Are you sure your loan was returned? Log into NSLDS to double check what you borrowed and what you returned.

The key is you attended "a few weeks". You are going to have to read the following and do some research. On what grounds are you disputing? As a general rule with schools, when you enroll in a school, you agree to abide by their withdrawal policies. If in fact all of your financial aid was returned, you more than likely owe this money in full immediately.
