Sounds like an illegal collection company. Call them back and ask for their license number to collect in your state and the name of their registered agent. They will either hang up on you or get angry, and then you will know that they are operating illegally.

So are collection agencies supposed to have a license number on my state or the state that they are working out off? I need to get the correct information before I call them, so I don't sound dumb when I ask them.

They left me a message with my real name, then called back and when I questioned him by calling him a fraud.. He changed my name to Remmington. Good stuff, just avoid these fools. He didnt even have my correct automobile, nor did I ever own a black Toyota.
agents and their calls
A person named Tracie (Tracy) Shaffin called my employer and neighbor. She told my neighbor my phone had been disconnected. I called her 800 number and left a voice mail for her not to call my work or neighbors and to only call the number she has for me. I also told her she was disclosing private info about me with the status of my phone. I have let my employer know she is a nuisance call and have followed up in writing.
When I called to get their address the person answering the phone wanted my name and why I was calling. He was reistant to giving me the address...parcelling it out bit by bit with my having to ask for each line...
Thanks for the help.
