Has anyone heard of the law offices of timothy?

has anyone heard of the law offices of timothy m. sullivan. they sent me a letter with some trumped up charges on it. the original credit card company said i owe 198.00 but these people want me to pay them 890.65 this is crazy. they say they are going to charge me 19.92% interest. i have sent a letter to them but just wondering if anyone knew of this place.

Collectors can charge the interest rates mentioned in the contract with the original creditor. Besides, their fees are governed by the state laws. You should check on the collection fees with your state attorney general.

Get the debt validated by the collection agency. You will be sure of them having your file.

Hi--

A search of the Ohio Bar Association finds two attorneys listed by that name---

1--Timothy C. Sullivan
425 Walnut St Ste 1800
Cincinnati, OH 45202
513 -357-9382
Firm name: Taft Stettinius & Hollister LLP

2--Timothy Michael Sullivan
Foltz Industrial Pwky
15400 Foltz Strongsville OH 44149
440 -572-1540
Firm name: Hy-Level Ind Inc

Both are listed as active attorneys. Compare this info to the info on the letter you got, the address, etc....hope this helps.

Timothy C. Sullivan is NOT a debt collection attorney..so it's probably Timothy M. Sullivan. Martindale Hubbel's website should also help. Many of the debt collection attorneys move around alot. I get calls all the time...and it's usually someone else they are looking for. Always send correspondence by certified mail and ty to contact the original creditor...and try to work it out with them.

Was contacted by a Gus Perez with HS Financial --a debt buying agency associated with Timothy M. Sullivan's Law Offices.

Mr. Perez threatened and harassed me for a debt that was not mine. I turned the matter over to an Attorney. This arrogant man finally gave up. I wrote letters to his boss Timothy M. Sullivan. Perhaps one day, the same tactics used by them will bite them in the a**. Karma is a powerful thing.

Tim Sullivan does not have any people skills. He plays favorites with his small staff. I misplace some paperwork, and when he found it.. he "bleeped" me up & down in front of the entire office. My manager took Tim into his office & told him he can't talk to employees the way he does. Tim has only owend this business for four years.
If he doesn't like you or the work you do,,, he will fire you. And that is with no training his new employees.

Please keep the profanity out. thanks! Goldenbast

Um that is WRONG advice! You can be sued ANYTIME. However, they would have to explain to a judge why 200 bucks a month was not acceptable as that is a lot of money for a consumer to pay and definitely shows the debtor was trying over the top to pay off the debt. heck, even paying 50 bucks a month would show good intent.

It is good advice to never, ever, ever EVER give banking info, not just to this firm, but to ANY debt collection company. If you have a debt that has been validated and you worked out payments (and ALL payment arrangements should be in writing!!) if they send back the payment you make a copy of said payment and send a certified letter asking the company why they have broken the agreement by not accepting the payment. If they tried to sue you...I'd LOVE to see them try to explain that to the judge.
