Advanced Credit Recovery complaints and steps to deal with them

I have received several call from advanced credit recovery inc. They used to call me under another name. They threatened me with court and refused to give me names of who I was talking to, fax number, email and/or physical address. Obviously I know they are illegal to make loans in CA due to the way they handled the call. Does anyone have a fax number that I can send a C&D letter to? They said they will not give me the fax to send it to but also will not stop calling.

Thanks for any help.

According to the Federal Debt Recovery Act, if you send them a letter (I recommend certified with a return receipt requested) stating your phone number(s) and ask them not to call. They must suspend calling the phone number. A letter is the only way to do this. They do not have to honor verbal requests.

they have a new phone 1-888-729-7718,their toll free number is not working. they have been calling my parents and they have my address!! I am 55 yrs old and fed up with this company! they need to be SHUT DOWN. Or, practice legal procedures.

I did file a complaint with the Fair Debt and FTC. which are about the same. I did it online and have a Reference #. They were calling all around my neighborhood, when they had everything they needed to get back to me. I have not heard back from this complaint because they will not reply to the FTC but I gave the name of the manager that I spoke with and closed my checking account because I felt that they had received enough of my money to handle the debt that I had. I will have to do a few more things to cover myself but I will see what comes of it maybe nothing and maybe more that I can handle but I had to do something.
well then humanoid, stop calling people who have nothing to do with the person you are trying to collect from.a bottomfeeder(which this is) is only allowed one call to a another party.that is to get contact info.after that it's harrassment.so what the person you were responding to was describing is against the FDCPA.if that was me i would get a cease and desist letter out certified mail return receipt.then when said bottomfeeder ignores it i sue them a good one.constantly calling a third party is also against the law.so back to the phones with you.you have people to harrass.
LMAO. I love this place..

Well if thats the case then. You should make sure you go to court. I know it sounds scary but if you dont show up the court will find you in DEFAULT and the scumbag will win without having to open its mouth! Having said that, Highlight the court date on your calender or your Blackberry or whatever. Get together all the information you have on this account. Make sure you've documented all the payments you've made, phone calls, and correspondence.
Usually, when these dudes show up for court they come unprepared or with very little documentation. So when they see that you've shown up they'll usually dismiss it.
I've only been to one myself. The lawyer appointed to handle the case for the company only had my name and the amount owed hand written on a sticky note! When it was our turn the lawyer asked to dismiss. Wooo Hoooo!
So try not to freak out about it. Get your ducks in a row and wait for your court date.

I am recieving the same harrassment form this company and its "idiots" who work for it. They harrass my place of work and my phone 3-4 times aday! They refuse to give me a fax # , address, and a name. I am constantly arguing with them and persistently tell them to "Stop Calling my work and my phone!" ..TO Cease and Besist! ..They keep calling even after I mention trhey are breaking the law and I will turn around and sue them for that and harrassment..They hang up on me.. I will take your advice and ignore the calls.

Instead of worrying about people paying their bills you should take a writing and spelling class. You sound like a 10 year old.

Sooo yes debt collectors are rude no lie on that but stop asking questions if it don't concern you it is not any of your business and its against the law.

.....another one who needs a writing class.

Your writing was tedious to read.

I have had two calls from ACR (Advanced Credit Recovery). They use ACR when they leave a message. They have a new number I believe, (877-458-2506). Mr. Stewart is calling me. They are calling on a unknown number and I have received no documention for the debt.

I had a payday loan with Midland Companies (I think this is the loan company) and I am currently going through a Chapter 7 bankruptcy. I had to amend my Chapter 7 to include my payday loans.

Mr. Stewart on both messages, one a week, has said that I need to have my legal counsel or myself call them. They have a retainer for passing a bad check. Ok, for one, this was not a ???Bad Check??? and it was a loan through an illegal payday loan company in California. He did mention the county that I live in and that the retainer was going to be sent out in 24 hours.

I call this scumbag and left a message. I did say that I was under the protection of the Federal Bankruptcy laws and to leave me alone or this company will be sued. He called back and said that the BR is not over yet, 6/15/10 and that he can continue to call.

I really do not know what a retainer is and this is making me a little nervous.

Any help would be nice.

Thanks,

It is total BS. Do not worry about it. You said it yourself, it was not a "bad Check" and further it was an illegal loan to boot. If this guy calls you again tell him he is supposed to send you a letter in 5 days of initial contact. Also tell him to go right ahead and take you to court that you will love to have him explain to the judge about the illegal threats.
