The Roll Law Office

I am thinking about debt consolidation and I have been talking with a person from The Roll Law office (Arizona) also known as US Consumer Advocate. I was just wondering if anyone has ever dealt with or heard of this company before. And any pro/cons about them..

a_j_grove,

This company is listed as Bankruptcy and Tax Lawyers with BBB. This is a BBB member company, holding satisfactory record too.

Are you thinking of bankruptcy? Bankruptcy is not good for your credit. It stays in your credit file for 7 years. You can consolidate your debts with this site. You will be offered free counseling once you register here. Counselor working in the program will work out the best payment plan for you. As a result you will find it really easy to pay your monthly installments.

Feel free to post your queries in forums if you have any.

a_j_grove,

I think you are very much concerned about the goodwill of the company that you are going to deal with. It is really difficult to find out a legitimate business in present days. However, I strongly believe the number of good companies is still higher than that of bad ones.

Let me tell you that you can avoid the hazard of searching a good company. If you register with this site, you will be offered free counseling with professional from one of the best debt consolidation companies. You can check how much satisfied the members are who has registered with this site-

Can I still sign-up for this service, eventhough I have other Creditors already being dealt with through Roll Law Offices. They are helping with 3 creditors, but I do have others, including a Federal Credit Union Loan and 2 Department Store CC's.

I was a client who worked with this company. They do not contact your creditors informing them of their involvement. They basically hold your monthly payment until enough money is "banked" in your account. They then attempt to settle with your creditors. Do yourself a favor and contact your creditors on your own and establish a payment plan through them. This will save headaches and most importantly, MONEY!!!!

I have been a client with the Roll Law Office since 2005. They have taken a lot of my money and I am not being sued. I go this morning to court. I have been told by the Roll Office that they have come up with a settlement. This morning I will find out for sure if this is a scam.

I have no lawyers to help represent me either.

Good luck in Court. Did Roll Law Office send you anything in writting about having a settlement in place. :( It does not look good that they let it get this far. It sounds bad as a matter of fact. Make sure to bring anything you have in writting with you.

Yesterday the lady with Roll Law Office said that she had gotten a hold of the people that are sueing me and a settlement had been made. She also said there was no need for me to go to court today.

I got to court and it was a good thing I went or I would have been in BIG trouble. The lawyer for Captiol One said that he had not heard where a settlement had been made.

If I had proof that the people from Roll had told me to not go to court I would have a malpractice suit against them.

I was adviced to call the Arizona Bar to make sure they were lawyers and to file a comlaint, and to inform the Roll Law Office has to what I have done to try and get my money back.

I WOULD NOT USE THESE PEOPLE!!!!

I was to get a call from someone in their office so they could fax me a copy of the settlement. That was yesterday. The lady still has not called me.

I am in the process of talking with Roll Law Office. They have VERY BAD!!!! communication as far as I am concerned.

If I can not get proof from the people that sued me that this settlement has been made I'm not sure what I can do.

How do I get my money back?????

Did you sign over power of Attorney?
Do you still have a copy of the contract that you signed with them? It may tell you what is required to stop using their service and may require a formal written request to cancel and refund your money.
They will probably want to keep any setup fees and I????????m sure they have certain protocols they will want to follow. It may not be an easy process.

Well I can report that I did go to court and things did not seem good. I had no representation and they had even told me I didn't have to show up.

After court everything looked like a scam, but I have talked with the person at the company that sued me and he has verified that there is a settlement. He had been on vacation and did not get the paper work done.

I am now working on getting the person at Roll Law to make contact with the ones who sued and get the paperwork done.

The man from the company did say that it would not have been good if I had not shown up in court.

Right now things look like they may work out ok, but I would advise anyone to seek help in our own city and not over the internet. That way you have eyeball to eyeball contact.

Also I found out from a friend who has dealt with a lot of financial problems that it is worse on your credit to go to a debt counciling place rather than claim bankruptcy. Just a tidbit for anyone that can use it.

Even after you think it????????s all taken care of. After reading many posts on this site you never know, years from now what kinds of things may pop up to haunt you

Here is an update on my situation:

Because of a lot of things that seemed to be happening I was not sure if I was being scammed or not.

After I had to appear in court I was able to get in touch with the man who was handling my account with the people who had sued me.

He was not suppose to really talk to me since I had a lawyer involved & they were power of attorney, but he was nice and did give me enough info to verify that he had talked with the Roll Law Office and that there were indeed trying to come in agreement with a settlement.

There has been a settlement agreement made, the Roll Law Office faxed me the settlement paper and I have sent a check to get all of it paid and closed out.

I have one more company that I am trying to settle with and the man from the Roll Law Office who is working on this account I have been impressed with. I think it may be taken care of by the end of the month.

All I can say is I took a big risk finding someone over the internet. That is something I usually don't do.

I have learned from this and I will be a lot more wiser. It's too easy to get scammed over the internet by going with companies you know nothing about.

Anyone can make a website look real. Make sure you investigate. Do Your Home Work!!!!!

Here is some advice:

With the Roll Law Office or any other company like this you have to let your bills go delinquent if they are not already.

You pay Roll Law or whoever a monthly payment, your account with them has to build up to a certain amount of money before they can start negotiations with your creditors.

This could take a few years to build up depending on your payments (for us it was 2 years). Then once you settle with one of your creditors your account is wiped out and you have to start again.

For one thing your creditors WILL NOT!!! go that long before they sue! I told the guy with Roll that I wanted to get the other account settled because "they will not wait 2-3yrs for my acct to be built backup before they sue me and I don't want to get sued again." He said I was exactly right.

Plus all this time the credit collectors are adding interest to your account. The account I have left has had $1,700.00 added in interest.

Which means you have to come up with MORE money to be able to negotiate with the creditors. I was orginally told by Roll that after paying X amount of dollars over 4yrs my accounts would be paid off. This is not always true because if the creditors keep adding interest to your account then Roll or whoever will have to have more money from you to start negotiations.

The man from Roll said he has had accounts that start off with the bill being like $6,000.00 but because of interest being added to the bill before the client had their account with them built up he has seen the $6,000.00 turn into like $15,000.00.

So BE CAREFUL!!! when thinking about something like this because you can dig yourself a major big ditch that you can't climb out of.

We sure would have if we had not have had some extra money come our way. That is ALL that has saved us.

Sorry this is so long but I hope it has helped someone out there.

Gossip, gossip, gossip. Try reading the paperwork you signed up for, when you asked for the program. I followed instructions they gave me; didn't procrastinate till the last minute, I used a fax machine (they are a business)and didn't sent notebook paper with pencil scribble, I kept up my payments so they could settle my debt quickly, I didn't talk to my creditors and piss them off with threating attorney talk I knew nothing about. I gave them the # to the Roll Law Office. I think there is a difference between Law Office and Law Firm, you schmucks... specifically that disgruntle ex-employee. Who probably got fire for a reason he was to young to understand, probably for working in the break room. I successfully completed the program because I read the fine print and understood what I was getting into, I didn't listen to gossip from chat room or a secretary at a law office. If you had half a brain, you'd know that an attorney doesn't let his secretary give legal advice. If you got a hold of her, you could of talked to the Debt Negotiator or Legal Dept, moron. So why would you ask her? I wouldn't ask my dentist for advice about a pain in my butt. Try looking before you leap and take responsibility for you actions.

I would like to respond to the various messages that have been posted.
The Roll Law Office, PLLC is a law firm located in Tempe, Arizona. I have been an attorney since 1994, opening my own office in 2002. Among other areas, I practice in consumer bankruptcy. As an alternative to filing bankruptcy, I started offering "debt settlement" to clients 3 years ago. This area has continued to grow ever since. For obvious reasons, debt settlement can be a very attractive alternative to filing bankruptcy - HOWEVER, in some cases, bankruptcy may be the best option for the client. Some clients start in the debt settlement program, but as circumstances/events evolve over time, may end up filing for bankruptcy.

It should be noted that the Representation and Fee Agreement that each client signs before entering the debt settlement program clearly states that my office will NOT represent the client in any court or arbitration proceeding. And anyone looking to enter into a debt settlement program should realize that their creditors may decide to file a lawsuit to collect the amounts owed. I WOULD NEVER advise a client NOT to go to a hearing. In fact, it often works to the client's advantage for the client to file an Answer and to attend a hearing (though, again, my office does not represent them in such proceedings). Anyone who suggests otherwise is misinformed.
In my experience, debt settlement is more "art than science." There are no guarantees, there are no easy answers or quick fixes. While my office is staffed by humans who are not "perfect," they are hard working and dedicated to providing the best service possible for the client.
I, or anyone at my office, would be happy to answers any questions directly.
Thank you,
Guy Roll

I am very happy with The Roll Law Office. They are very good and helpful. I was sued by Bank of America and The Roll Law Office took care everything and now is done very well. I still have 15 months to go. I still received the letter from Debt Collector from another debt and I just need to fax to the Roll Law Office. I do not worry anything...and I am so happy now.

Roll Law is handling my settlements on 2 credit accounts right now. They are HORRIBLE with communication, and as far as I'm concerned, a waste of my money. I have spent about $1500 in service fees to them so far. I can't wait till this is over, and would NOT recommend them to anyone. They act as a middle man between you and your creditors... you could do this yourself. It's a rip off, but not a scam.

Unfortunately I have found any law office that I have dealt with in the last 40 years or so to be horrible with communication. I have had lawyers that I was paying but would not return my phone calls. They show up late for court and take forever to do paperwork, But thats a subject for the pub.

I would like to say that my ordeal is FINALLY over! I see that Guy Roll has responded to this site so maybe he will see this.

I will say that this turned out not to be a scam. I will also say that I did read all the paperwork they give you to sign when you get started and it does say they will not represent you in court.

If I think about it it was some lousy thinking on my part. I just did not take the time to think things through.

The thing is (let's take my situation) I was told to pay X amonut to Roll each month for 4 yrs and the bills would be paid off.

Now they do say in writing that you have to sign that it could take longer to pay off and they will not go to court.

My responsiblity should have been to really think this thing out.
1)you bills go delinquent.
2)you pay Roll (or whoever) a monthly payment. They make no payments to your creditors and in my case it was 2yrs before they could start talking with a creditor about settling.
3)bills were turned over to collection agent
4)with no payment or settlement to collection agent for that long of time. there is a HIGH risk of a law suit.
5) with no payment being made all kinds of interest is being added to your accts. Thus having to pay Roll longer than what you were told is pretty apparent.
6)No guarantee not to get sued and if you do no representation!

I will say because I had some unexpected money come my way I was able to get all this taken care of.

I had my account built up to where I was able to pay Roll extra right then so they could start a settlement. After the first debt was paid I called the person who was my negoiator (sp?) for the 2nd debt.

I ended up being VERY pleased with the work that he did and he saved us a lot of money. I was shocked by the low amount he was able to settle the debt for. He did do us a great job and we did get some money back.

It all turned out good for us thanks to getting that extra money. If we had not gotten that money we would be in some very HOT water right now.

Even though this turned out I would not do this again.

Like Guy Roll says this is "AT YOUR OWN RISK"

Also I would like to tell Guy Roll that the communication STINKS!!!

No matter what time of day you call 1st thing you are put on hold with music (which is really messed up!) a recording does say you can leave a message and someone will call back. NO one ever did!
Then after so long you get disconnected. I spent TONS of time just trying to get someone to talk to.

Your communication needs MAJOR improvement!!!!!!!!!

I am scared half to death because I haven't paid my creditors in MONTHS because I have been paying the retainer fee for the Roll Law Office to represnet me. I was just informed today that they will not be able to negotiate anything for me for another 34 months because of the low payments I have to make. I am seriously struggling with the idea of filing for bankruptcy now because I am afraid of a lawsuit since I've gotten some not so friendly letters recently. The problem is, they can't gaurantee that the creditors will agree to the settlement amount and they do have the right to sue. I should have read the fine print as well. I was under the assumption that I would be provided with an attorney if there is ever danger of a pending lawsuit. Now I'm debating the bankruptcy path just for the protection against my creditors. It really sucks since I might have to file a Chapter 13 meaning I will have to live on pretty meager means for the next couple of years. I'm stressed and haven't slept much. I really wish I was able to stay on top of my bills and pay everything on time. I guess I have no one else to blame but myself.

Turner- I have not looked at my credit report yet. I know it takes some time for it to show up. I guess I need to check it out. I will say I have been able to get a major credit card. Buying a house, well I'm just not sure. I know a lot of time when you have bad credit you might get loans but it will be at a higher interest rate.

Deffer-
I'm not sure if you have changed your plans or not,but those letters in the mail you are getting-call the Roll Office and they will have you fax them to them so they can get it stopped. Don't think though that even though you may not get mail they are not still going after you.

I will tell you though those creditors are adding interest to your accts and before 34 months is up you can expect to get sued. Plus instead of owing like $5,000.00 by that time you will owe more like $7,000.00 plus.

That is the problem there is NO PAYMENTS made to these people at all so how can one not expect to get sued by the creditors. If it was more like debt consolidation where they lower the interest and monthly payments that may be different but them not getting any money at all for 2 plus years. . NO WAY will they let that fly!!!

Also a word or warning! If you are get court papers telling you to go to court. Don't let Roll Law Office tell you not to show up like they did me. Unless you are 100% sure there has been a settlement pay off you better show yourself in court!!!! I WAS told not to go but my husband made sure I went anyway and it was a GOOD THING he made me go!!!!

USCA is the best and most upfront debt settlement company that I know of. There attorney of record has been in practice longer than most companies have been in business. And that is a good sign. To date they all my dealing with them have been good. I find that if you want results from any service company you have to be detemined to get answers, so go up the chane of command and deal with the Managers at USCA, its the best way to get things done.

I have used Roll Law Office for debt negotiations and they were somewhat helpful, but once of my accounts, MBNA, would not nogitate and they put judgments against me and the Roll Law office couldn't help me. I had to make payment arrangements with MBNA and still continue to make payments to Roll Law Office. I talked to an attorney in my state (SD) to see what my options where. Either make payments arrangements, pay off the credit card, or bankruptcy. Also, until Roll Law Office has their fee which when I did it was $1250.00 the creditors can continue to call - so it was 6 months before I saw anything happen. Plus everytime one of your accounts gets sold to another collection agency - you have to tell your story all over again. It's very frustrating. If I had to do it all over again I would of went to my local CCCS office and have them help me out. Oh well I learned the hard way.

What roll law office does you can do with your creditors. They stop your payments on them and then you pay them a large fee once their fee is satisfied they put money in a trust for you. When you get enough in a trust they pay a bill off. The bill willmake the same offers to you as to the law office. I have accounts with the law office and yes they show you their good history but now that I'm over 1/2 paid off and ready to sttle my 3erd of 4 acounts they want another $2500. or really US consumer avi wants the $2500. Roll trasfered all my accounts 100% to them a few months ago. They say its an extra 15% fee for the money they have saved me. I'm getting the same offeres from the same bills and they are going to charge me $2500 for exsepting them (each bill left) after I paid them $3000 to begin with to settle my accounts. I'm not happy I'm going to pay them almost as much as my creditors.
