more platinum issues....

earlier this year i got a $100 payday loan. I know i only got $100 because i didnt have direct deposit. I got the repayment date re-set 2 times.. each time only having to pay $30... then the full amount..plus the fee - also 30$. So the total should be $190 right? Wrong, i get a call from a debt collector stating i owe $410 for this crap - but i KNOW i paid it, because i made sure to pay it before i changed my bank account to a different bank due to a separate issue. However, in thinking this was all paid, i threw away all my paperwork, so now i have to refernce to fax to these people. The collection agency "doesnt have any contact information" for Platinum B,..so i dont know what to do. Any ideas?

thanks,

Hi Steph

Welcome to the forums. Did you check your latest credit report from the three bureaus and see the latest standing of the said account.

The said account should have been updated by your creditors after they have received your payment.

Following is the address to contact Platinum B.

American Express,
P.O. Box 7852,
Ft. Lauderdale,
FL 33329.

Regards
Roxette

Similar situation as described above just happened to my mother on a $300 loan which was paid 30 days later; however they continued to collect service fees until the account was closed. Loan was with Platinum.

You can go to your bank where you closed your account at and request copies of your bank statements. This will give you documentation as to whether or not you did indeed pay the original loan. If you did and the debt collection was turned over to Ellis Crosby & Assoc I recommend you make copies of everything, record your conversations with the debt collector, and turn over to your state attorney general's office. To collect unpaid debt is one thing, but to attempt to collect a second time on debt that was already paid is a crime in which they can be prosecuted. Please, I know it is work to go get bank statements, etc, but this will help others out through your actions. These bad seeds need to be weeded out so the legitimate businesses can found.

Good luck and happy hunting.
