Any direction you can give me would help. Thank you
The details of my situation follows. Any direction would help.
I owe approximately $20,000 on my credit card. I have only one card. I have excellent credit, my rate is at 8.99%. My salary last year was about $15,000. I am not eligable for gov't assistance or unemployment. I have no assets and my family can not help me.
I can no longer make my minimum payments of $400 a month and I am very scared.
I called the card and they do not offer any assistance even though my credit is great and I have made staedy payments for over 3 years.
PLEASE HELP. I am so lost.
Hi mercuryart I wonder why you can't make the minimum payment
Hi mercuryart
I wonder why you can't make the minimum payment of that $400 anymore. Can you be more elaborate on that earning specified? If $15,000 is your monthly income, then you have an approximate due of $20,000. And it becomes stranger that you have not made any assets by now.
Moreover, It's very stranger from the part of the credit card company who is not offering any assistance to you who has made payments for over 3 years and who has a great credit. Can you explain your situation elaborately so that it becomes easier to understand the situation?

Any direction...
Thanks for replying to my post.
I can no longer make my payments because my income has decreased. I don't know why it is weird I have no assets, I rent an apartment in Manhattan in NYC, that could do it. Maybe also because I have always payed off my debts (school, other).
As far as the credit card, I don not understand it either why they will not assist me. First USA turned to Bank One, then they turned to Chase. I contacted them over 6 months ago to preempt and bad situation. I try to be proactive, but there is nothing they can do unless they reccommend me for their hardship program which puts me in a worse place than I am in now.
What else can I tell you? I am looking into a personal loan and there is this situation where a company can buy my debt and I will have no credit for three years. Not sure what to do.
Hi mercuryart I will suggest you not to go for personal loan
Hi mercuryart
I will suggest you not to go for personal loan to pay off your debts, since your income has decreased and it will further put a strain on you financially. What I recommend you is to opt for debt consolidation because it will have lower monthly payments and the interest rates will also be lower in comparison. Taking a loan to pay your debts won't be the best choice for you at this stage.

I looked into that. Thank you. It was my first thought, however,
I looked into that. Thank you. It was my first thought, however, as I stated before, I have excellent credit and my rate is already at a very low rate of 8.99%. I only have one credit card with no assets and there is nothing to consolidate.
So, I'm not sure where to go next.
Hi mercuryart Having no assets, you can still opt for consoli
Hi mercuryart
Having no assets, you can still opt for consolidation. Isn't it? And you can make the monthly payments from your regular income. What do you say?

How do I get the person who contacted me by phone on Apreil 25th to call me again and email me the info we had talked about?
He was very helpful and actually suggested an applicable solution. No offense, but I feel like I am going in circles here.

Hi mercuryart
As I suggested in other post to your reply that the consultant is trying to free some time for you. You don't need to worry much as it is certainly their responsibility to contact you. You can be a bit patient for the time being and let's hope that it works out nicely. I think the customer care has forwarded the call and now the consultant will keep further correspondence with you. I believe that's how it works.
Thanks with regards
