Welcome to the forums. After you complete the payments, the creditors or the collection agencies pass your accounts as paid to the bureaus and you can check your credit report for the last update. It is not necessary for you to get a letter from your creditor to be sent to the bureaus.

However, you must be having all the receipts or the proof of the payment made or the bank transactions. If you find an error in your credit report, you can send these copies to dispute the debt.

Regarding the other company which is contacting you for the same debt, chances might have been that the debt was sold some time earlier to this company also. They are contacting you for the collection of the debt which you have already paid. You can inform them that you have already made a payment of it and if they still insist you to pay, you can legally ask them to validate the said debt with the necessary details.

Please send all your letters by certified mail with return receipt requested and keep all the copies of your correspondence intact.

Hey Trish, was just wondering if these people were hard to work with?? they call my house threatening me every day even after I have wrote and begged them to work with me and told them NOT TO CALL MY HOME....as a matter of fact, they weren't calling before and then upon receiving my letter telling them NOT to call, they started calling. 'She' was pretty ugly today on my answering machine and I was just wondering if they were demanding with you, like they are trying to be with me? thanks!

Regarding the message in your answer phone by the collection agency, I will suggest you to keep it recorded so that you can prove their misdeeds in the court.

Hey Roxette! yes, I have the message saved and will definitely hold on to it. also have dates and times recorded of when their computer made calls to my home. I just finished a post about this situation. I added it on to a thread that had the original post of the situation in it, so I wouldn't have to go through and rehash it in the forums again, and anyone not knowing could re-read the original post. thanks for being there!! shirley
