debt

My wife and I are in debt, but we're not sure of how much and NONE of it is credit card debt...what can we do to get out and rebuild our credit?

Hi Todd

Welcome to the forums. In order to know how much your debt is and whom do you owe, please get the latest credit report from the three credit bureaus and know your financial standing.

Your credit report will reflect the following transactions:

  • You will be able to know the debts that you owe to your creditors.

  • You will have detailed information of the number of times and the places where you have applied for credit.

  • It will show the kind of credit that you have taken in the past.

  • Your late payments will be shown in your credit report in the slabs of 30, 60, and 90 days

  • If you have taken any extensions in your credit lines, it will be reflected in your credit report.

  • Your liens, garnishments, and

  • If you have filed for bankruptcy

It is necessary to check the credit report regularly as it helps us to know if there is any negative entry in it. If repair is not done within the time period, it can stay in the report for up to seven years and hence will hamper the scope of acquiring credit in the future.

After you know all your outstanding dues from the respective creditors, you can consolidate your debts into this program as it will offer you a lower monthly payment at lower rate of interest.

Please let us know how we can assist you further in any of your other queries. We will be glad to offer you suggestions in your times of need.

Regards
Roxette
