WHY ARE YOU ASKING FOR POST-DATED CHECKS/ DO YOU KNOW IT IS ILLEGAL?

Hi REV. MORRIS

Welcome to the forums.

As this platform is a public board, please mention the name of the company who is asking for post dated checks.

You can file a formal complaint against that company with the Attorney General's Public Inquiry Unit.

You may also file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission which enforces the Federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.

Consumer Response Center,
Washington, DC 20580-0001
Telephone at 1(877)-FTC-HELP.

Any agency is restricted from soliciting you to send a postdated check to them. They are using this method for the purpose of threatening, or instituting criminal prosecution.

If in a certain situation, you issue any check to a particular agency, please make sure to address your check as "Postdated" above the date on that particular check. If you send a check to the agency, they are required to inform you in writing three to ten business days in advance before they intend to cash the check under (15 USC Section 1692f(2), (3) & (4)).

Please inform the concerned company about the prevalent law and if they continue to harass you, you can file a complaint with the FTC.

Regards
Roxette
