Consumer Credit Counseling Services

I have used this company and they are pretty good. However, when they told me that there was no charge, I did find that they were keeping $20 of my payment even though they are a non-profit organization. When I asked them why they did that, they told me that they are funded through donations and the $20 a month was a donation. A donation that I wasn't aware that I was giving. Eventually, the "donation" increased to $25 or $30, and I was notified of it by mail, but wasn't able to not agree to it. If I didn't agree to "donate", I was taken off of the program.

Is a monthly charge normal for a Non-Profit organization?

The credit counseling companies offer various relief programs for the debt struck people. They can assist people with their services keeping their profile transparent. They can help in managing our money and pay off the debts. You will have to distinguish a legitimate company from the ones not having a sound reputation. The market has a mixture of good and bad companies. Don't fall in the hands of deceptive companies who can make your financial situation even worse. The commission along with the law enforcement agencies will help us in protecting our rights.

just a thought.. their (accc) website says they are a 501(c)(3) organization, that means you can write off their monthly fee as a charitable contribution. You pay them upfront, you get eh deduction from uncle sam (which will help you get a refund) so in the end they end up being free.
