A 2nd Opinion

I explained to the lady that I use my AMEX card to put a couple of utility bills on and that way I can get them paid when they are due and then at the end of the month just pay the card. This is the only use I have for this card as I can't carry a balance on it and it's paid in full every month. The lady at debt relief Inc. said my creditors that I have enrolled in the program will see me doing this with AMEX and may cause a stink and be less willing to settle since they see me accruing charges on another card and paying it off each month.
What is your take on this?
Thanks!

Hi kaunkst7
Nice to hear from you yet again...please tell me if your AMEX card is also enrolled in that debt consolidation program? I gathered from your post that if this card is not put in the program, then this card will not come into picture. So whatever payments you make in this card, will not get open if it is not included in the program. I may need more information from you if I have posted anything wrong here. This is what I feel understanding your post.
Please keep in touch.

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly! No, the AMEX card is not enrolled in the program. It's a card used soley for bills and is paid off every month, there is never a balance carried over on it.
Why would this manager of debt relief Inc. discourage me from continuing to pay my bills in this manner? How would my creditors that are enrolled in the program know what I am doing with another card that is not enrolled?
Thanks again!

Hi kaunkst7
Right, so this is a positive approach to this matter. Though, I may not be so sure about it but I think consumers are sometimes discouraged so as to get business from them. This is one way of business tactics.
Anyway, please do not worry about anything. Trust me; everything will just turn up very nicely.
If there is anything that I can further do from my side, it will be a pleasure for me.

So, you're saying I would probably be safe to continue to pay my certain monthly utilities like I have been with me AMEX card?
Business tactics on whose part? You don't mean the debt consolidation company, do you? I don't know why they would be using discouraging tactics with me when they want my business. I can understand them wanting me to discontinue using credit cards since the whole objective is to get out of debt but the AMEX card is not like that, not mine anyway and as I've said before, it's paid off in full every month, it's just used for my phone and cable bill.
A second opinion
Hi Kaunkst7
Welcome back to the forums. It is great to have you in the forums.
I understand from your query Kaunst7, that the lady at debt relief Inc. wants you to use your AMEX card wisely because this card is solely used to pay off your utility bills and in due course of time you can get into a debt, for which you may have to suffer badly.
Therefore, she has just expressed her opinion and there is nothing to worry. Please do not stress yourself out for this simple matter.
All the best to you.
Peter.

So, your guys' take is she is advising me so I don't further myself into debt? I can understand and appreciate that. And I will continue to pay my bills in the manner this is working best for my situation.
I'm still concerned that she is telling me that creditors know what I am doing with my other cards. Is this true? Does one creditor know what I am doing with regards to another? Seems a bit invasive to me!
Thanks to you guys too....you're a very big help!

Hi Kate
Hi Kate
Just a bit of proper planning will put you in a much comfortable financial position and you will not incur any debts in the mentioned card.

There is no specific point for a creditor to know the activities of another card. Please do not worry much about this.
