Re: letter i received
Hmmm, well I know I am not the only one, I received 3 letters so far, from them, looked up the address and found who this is. I am not in debt to anyone, but the name on the letter is my exhusbands wife, with MY address on it. I called the 800 # and they say they have the new address and hang up. So did the wife give my address, what are they doing? I called postal inspectors and they can do nothing as long as my name is not used, but they can use my address? Something is just not right!
This sounds a bit troubling. You should definitely take action right away in order to nip this problem in the bud. This problem could be an honest mistake or it can be something a bit more mischievous.
However, there are a few things that you can do in order to rectify this situation.
First, you should call this company again and ask to speak with the supervisor or the person in charge of that agency. Tell them that you have a serious problem that needs to be resolved immediately. That would keep them on the phone long enough and that would put them on notice that they have to take this issue seriously. Explain your problem to them and tell them that it needs to be resolved immediately while you are on the phone. After they have made the necessary corrections, you should ask for the name of the person with whom you are speaking with. Keeping this detailed record would work in your favor if you need to take any more necessary actions.
Another thing that you could do is write the company and tell them to stop sending you bills. According to law, you have the right to tell a collection agency to stop sending you letters. This would especially apply to your case because this is unnecessary harassment. It would be up to them to sort out the true debtor when it comes time to collect their money.

Hi Diamonds
Welcome to the forums. I read your post and understand that it is a result of the address not updated with the concerned companies. As a result of this, the collection agency is contacting you not knowing the fact.
Please update your contact address with the company concerned so that it gets solved. When the collection agency has your new address verified, it will stop all the calls in future.
Please keep posting in the forums and hope to see you often.
