I need help or advice from anyone who is familiar with this Bahamas Marketing Group. I only borrowed $200 from them and now they insist I owe them over $500 because of fees. This can't be possible because I have checked my bank account history and the loan was paid back, but the collection agency that called me insists that I need to pay this by 5:00PM today via western union. The person I spoke with states that I will now have a record for internet fraud because I got the PDL online and it is not paid. They said that I need my attorney to contact them today. I have gotten other payday loans online before and I have never had this problem. Does anybody know what steps I need to take to rectify this? I can't find a phone number for Bahamas Marketing Group anywhere on the internet.

Thanks,
Cassandra

BMG sold predatory loans from many different websites. Often times you did not KNOW what you were truly signing up for, but in the fine print of the document you either signed and sent in, or digitally signed, a subsection described what is referred to as "re-finance rate". It is illegal to charge percentages as high as they do, as a finance charge, or as an interest rate. So they get around the laws by disguising the fee under another name.
Now after you have paid the balance plus a bit of profit.....u may think you have released yourself of any obligation....but as you see the "refinance rate" is 2000%.....YOU STILL OWE MONEY! They will then sell your account on the debt market to debt buyers and collectors. Who then have a legal right to collect and even sue you.
While I sympathize with youre situation....I do have to say, as a fairly intelligent individual.....WHY WOULD YOU TAKE THE LOAN?! Nobody needs money THAT bad. There is no way out of it other than paying the collector. After all.......you signed up for it. Good luck, and god bless, poster.
And to the xxxxxxxxxxx, in a previous posting that has a negative, and completely ignorant, stereotypical view of debt collectors...as people who bounce from dead end job to dead end job.....I beg to differ, good-sir! I have remained in the business for some years, and worked my way up from a collector, to a collection company owner, and NOW I buy and broker millions of dollars in debt. I dont know you....but Im positive that I am far more successful in life than you will ever be. Why.....? Because I respect all....including the people that owe debt. That is why I have been successful....I always took the time to listen, and work with people. So go educate yourself on manners, son.

Obviously collection firms do not employ people with an education, based on your poor grammar and spelling.

Got a call today from them. The number they told me to call back to was 877-546-3633 and the "law firm" was Weinburg and Associates representing BMG for a payday loan. I called them back and spoke to the previous caller named Richard Jaworski. He informed me that I had a pay day loan from 2007 that needed to be paid or I was going to be served. I informed him that his information was incorrect and I wanted proof of the debt to be sent to me directly. He said he was trying to give it to me verbally. I said that was unacceptable and I asked for their lawyer's license information and he said he would transfer me to the lawyer. I waited on the line and got a Kenneth Strieber who would not give me his license information though he claimed he was an attorney, told me that all he had to do was tell the judge that I was uncooperative and they would win, and that the case has already been decided in their favor I just need to appear in front of a judge. I laughed and said that was not how it worked and he said "Really? Are you a lawyer, how would you know?" I informed him that he might have had some of my information but that the PayDay loan was not mine. I've never taken one out. I have also been a stay at home mom since 1998 so there was no way I could even get a payday loan. He was trying to speak over me but I would not stop (using their tactics) and he eventually hung up on me. Definitely a scam company and someone I will have my 1 year old speak to the next time they call.

Well friday march 25, 2010 i got a phone call for a company suppose to be called tesoro the phone numer 904-853-4172. After going and paying half of the $496.00 western union. I looked the phone number up and it said fake payday loan collection. I called the number back and talked $hit to the lady. She told me that they where real. I ask here could i use my debit card number to pay them but she told me no that i had to do a western union that way they can not be traced. Also where they said they office is at, i google it and the place in a office but its for sell. Yes i am out of 248.00 all because i didnt want to go to jail. Wtf was i thinking

My wife was called by a debt collector today and told that she would be served with "court papers" regarding a loan that was taken out by another person that used my wife as a cosigner. That information was left in a voice message, and when my wife was able to break away from what she was doing at work she called back. The person that left the message answered the call, "Kenneth Strides". He was an annoying little man who claimed to work for an attorney's office. He obviously did not work for any attorney, at least not one with any sense at all. Anyone working at an attorney's office is taught very quickly not to loose his temper, not to talk over people, and NEVER to insult anyone. he did all of the above. He tried to tell me 50 times that I did not know what I was talking about. I agreed with him. I am not an attorney. I do not work in the legal profession. But at the same time I know that my wife did not co-sign with the person that he was saying that she was involved with. The other girl is a lazy-&%# that never keeps a job, and is always broke. I assume that the lazy girl may have used my wife as a reference for a pay-day loan or something like that? But my wife would never co-sign with that moron. But before I could even ask for any proof from "Kenneth" he hung up on me. This company is obviously not legitimate. The physical address he gave me was:
8159 Corporate Park Drive, Cincinnati, OH 45242
and the phone number was: 8775463633
and the attorney's office was: Weinberg and Associates on the automated answering system when you call 1-877-546-3633.
I would be VERY skeptical when dealing with anyone calling from this number or claiming to represent this firm. I have no way of knowing for sure, but the whole situation smelled of scam to me.

I have received 3 different calls from 3 different companies saying that I am about to be prosecuted criminally and civily for check fraud because I failed to payback online loans. Today I received a call from Interchex Systems regarding BMG. They are trying to say that I received a loan in May of 2010 that I did not. The bank they say it was deposited to was bought out last year and my account there has been closed since 2008. In addition I haven't worked for the employer that they have on file since 2008 also. It is my opinion that when I did apply for loans back in 2008 my information may have been sent to them even thought I did not use them and they are now trying to scam me. I have been on the phone with a Ms. Rodriguez from Iterchex fraud department and she admitts that it doesn't sound right but she wants me to get documentation showing when that account was closed. When I told her the names of the other loan companies I have been contacted about by other collectors she said that those too are owned by BMG. It is a shame that we can no longer trust anyone who contacts us, but I refuse to give or verify anymore of my information over the phone. I also have another unverifiable attorneys office contacting me about a debt that I really do owe, but I don't believe them to be on the up and up either. They won't send me anything by mail and when I called the NY bar to get an address the only one they had was for a house. I did a reverse look up of the address and it came back with two names completely different. This is just getting ridiculous!

DO NOT SEND THEM MONEY! One day in December I got an email from allied something or other about criminal and civial charges of check fraud for an unpaid payday loan. I called and asked when this alledged loan was taken out, they gave me a date I immediately while on the phone whent ot that bank statement and said I have no payday loan deposited in my account on that date. Why don't you give me your fax number and I will fax it to you and you can see for yourself. After reviewing it, they agreed that it was not deposited and I was told it would be closed and removed from the system. Well its now 7 months later and every week I get a call from some different "law office collection agency" stating I owe money to some payday loan company. All dates I am given are around the same time frame and so I fax bank statements to these people and they close it supposedly. At this point I am probably going to take legal action because I will not spend another 6 months doing this. I did it because I figured it would just stop eventually, but they just keep coming. If I owed it I would pay it. Point is I never took the loan out and they are the ones committing fraud at this point. Some even state that they are a local law enforcement agent. Its horrible, but I guess its the time we live in. Just do not sent them money, especially if you did not take out the loan. You know when you owe money and when you dont. I hope this helps you.
