Who are they?

Has anyone heard of Rotlan, Weinberg, and Reed?? I'm not sure if they are a collection agency, or attorneys. Sounds like a law firm, but ya never know. For the past two days they have left a generic message on my answering machine requesting a call back. They don't say who they are in the message. I only know because I called the 1-800 number after hours to see if an answering service could identify them. I'm not sure of the spelling. Could be something close to Rotlan, Weinberg, and Reed. I've tried to look them up on the net, bbb site etc. I can't seem to find anything, but as I said I'm not sure of the spelling. Thanks...NDebt

Hey, I got one of the three names right! It was kind of hard to understand their answering service. They did call again today for the 3rd day in a row, but same generic message. I am in the process of obtaining a home equity loan to settle 3 credit card accounts. I think we may close as soon as Friday. Does anyone have any experience with these people? Are they likely to settle the account at like 50%?? I have been working with a debt settlement company for over a year. They have already settled 4 accounts for me. I'm almost done!!! I'm just hoping these people will work with my debt settlement company. Thanks Stanley for the info. This is a great forum. The debt settlement process has been rough, but last January I was $42,000 in credit card debt with few options. Today I am less than $15,000 away from being debt free (assuming they settle). This home equity loan should take care of that final $15,000. Thanks so much for all of your advice over the past year. It has really helped to know that I'm not alone, and I would happy to share my experiences with the whole debt settlment process with anyone considering this step. I'll let you all know how everything comes out once I finish the program. There is also a credit correction program after all of the debts have been settled. I'm not sure how effective that will be, but just having the debt gone is a huge weight off my shoulders. Thanks again everyone!!! (soon to be no longer NDebt)

One thing to realize, when deals are made with CC companies, the difference in the deal versus the real debt is considered income for tax (IRS) purposes, just know that. Research it too, I had a couple beers but I believe I am correct, Don't know how that works with debt consolidation companies, but worth asking about. Nothing is for free, especially $$$
