Located two addresses that are supposed to be associated with this group.
522 Elm Wood Ave Buffalo NY 14222, claimed by someone that reported them on one of the "who is calling" websites. Not sure where that poster got the info that this address was linked to this debt collector because when you search the address, it comes up as Mikkie's, which is a nightclub.
According to the company's LLC articles of organization, they listed the Secretary of State of New York as their agent where process may be served upon them. The address that SSNY would send that process to them is as follows:
Peltan Law, PLLC, 1207 Delaware Avenue, Suite 206, Buffalo, NY 14209
Peltan Law is definitely involved in debt collection litigation, but not necessarily as a debt collector. Their website details that they offer services to defend against FCRA, FDCPA and TCPA lawsuits, offer compliance training on the above, and so on. So they are lawyers that help debt collectors. They probably do take on debt collection cases as well, but thats just a guess.
The people that called the OP are scam artists. Their basic tactic is the same as most payday loan collectors, they call you with a "docket number" that goes to no case at all, tell you that you have 48 hours to respond or they will forward the case to your local jurisdiction. They like to claim that you have violated Title 15 of the US Code. They disclose info to third parties often, calling parents and detailing the entire supposed debt to them. Sometimes, they tell the consumer that they will be arrested if they do not comply. These are not nice people and even if you do owe a debt, I would not deal with them, to be honest. They are bottom feeders who violate the laws routinely and try to scare you into paying.
when you see their number,
when you see their number, simply pickup and hangup. Tell your boss and co-workers that you are a victim of fraud and to simply ignore the calls
