I have about 9000.00 worth of debt and am looking to start cleaning it up...problem is although I am working full-time, I don't have a lot of money to apply to my debt. Would it be better to speak with a counsellor or just claim bankruptcy. I don't know what options might be available...

Yes, you can take help from a debt management company and consolidate your debts. You can also opt for the debt settlement option. But you may also have DIY debt payment options if you can afford the monthly payments.

Before filing bankruptcy, I would suggest you check put other options like settlement. Doing so, you can get rid of the debt by paying less than what you owe. But it depends on your financial condition how much you can pay back.
If required, you can talk to the counsellor of a consolidation company.

If you ask me, I will suggest you for settlement. However, if your debt amount is huge, you can consider bankruptcy. It is better to consult with a debt counselor for the best suggestion.

Speak to a counselor and know your options first. The credit counselor will give you money management tips to pay off your debts. You can also try out debt avalanche or debt snowball method. He can help you plan a budget smartly. No need to file bankruptcy. The amount is too less.
