They are trying to frighten you to get the money. This is against the FDCPA rule. You can make a complaint againf=st them to your state's attorney general. Did you check the SOL of the debt?

That is not possible. That is a fake threat. In fact, this is against the debt collection law. They have broken the FDCPA law and you can sue the lawyer. I have a doubt if he is even a lawyer. You can't be arrested for a debt. The police has many important assignments. So just ignore this lawyer. How much do you owe by the way?

If they can't arrest you, they will at least try to harass you! But here's what something you should do.
You can ask the lawyer for his address, and send him a written letter that will ask him not to call you at certain times, or hackle you at your workplace or home. Keep a copy of that letter with you....... and if possible get hold of a good lawyer and explain the situation,...... it should come of some help.

It is definitely a violation of the FDCPA debt collection laws. You should file a complaint at once. But first you can follow the option what Phil has suggested you. THat person might be a fraud, not a real attorney.
