Talk to a bankruptcy lawyer before proceeding with bankruptcy. Usually, the credit card companies get almost nothing if the debtor files bankruptcy.

Many people file for Chapter 7 bankruptcy to discharge their credit card debt. Most Chapter 7 bankruptcies are "no-asset cases," so basically, there are no properties to sell for paying off the creditors. So it's unusual for credit card companies to get any payment at all.

So, if you are gonna give your vehicle to pay off the credit card debt, filing for chapter 7 bankruptcy doesn't make any sense.

Remember, chapter 7 bankruptcy leaves a serious mark on the credit report. It will be on your report for 10 years. You may not be able to build a good credit score for it. Why are you trying to file bankruptcy? Settle your credit card debts.
