Cannot pay back payday loans - what next

what do you do when you know you cant pay back a payday loan...who do you contact?

heythere

Welcome to the forums! You need to contact the issuer of the loan. Ask to speak to a manager if need be. Explain the situation to them, and why you are not able to pay back the loan. In most cases, they may be willing to work with you. Other payday lenders do not care, and will attempt to hit your account (possibly even two times) and make you incur NSF fees with your bank. If you feel you're going to lose money regardless, perhaps you shoudl change yoru account number, and work out an alternate payment method with them.

Remember that payday loans are only meant to be for extreme emergencies, and only a short loan with high interest. These should only be taken with the intention of paying back within one week. We all understand that mistakes happen, and other things come up...but payday loan companies are only out there for one thing, and that's to make money off us.

Regards-
Mike

We're glad you can feel comfortable now. This forum has been help to many, and it appears that it's helping many others as they come across it. Everyone has something to share; and we can not only learn from our mistakes, but quite possibly theirs too.

Regards-
Mike

I have had a loan with check n go (Texas) for 2 years now. I swear they are the devil! I pay $200.00 every 2 weeks to roll over the loan because I am never able to pay back the 1000.00 that I originally borrowed. At check n go, you cant buy your loan down, they don't do that, you can only pay fees and roll the loan over. I have very poor credit and can't get a personal loan anywhere to be able to pay them off. Is there any advice on how to get out of this hell??? I am about ready to just close my checking account and stop paying them. I know, I know, that is the worst thing to do, but I am sick of it!

My husband and I both have payday loans from cashnet usa online. mine is for 400 and his 500 I believe. We have been doing loan extensions then paying back then taking out another to cover it again and are in a hole. We will not be able to pay in one week when they are due and I am freaking out. I do not want them to harrass my husband at work, I have heard bad stories. Can I have my back stop the payment from coming through? Will they be able to call our jobs and contact and harrass them? We are in arizona and this was an online loan. I am also worried they will come after us for writing a bad check, Arizona is very strict on that and although I have never done it before I cannot afford to have that happen.
We could pay them back come the first of the year or make small payments in the mean time but cannot keep the payments and the fees on top of it.
Thanks!!,

What are the laws for online payday loans when you live in Maryland. I have taken out online payday loans and I reside in Maryland. The fees are killing me. Can you give me some options as to paying these off. What options do I have if any or do I need to close my current bank account to stop the NSF fees when I don't have the money there to cover the withdrawls from the lenders?

Will a lender even bother persuing legal action for a 200 payday loan. They never contacted me until now threatening to call the attorney gen. My email was cancelled bcz i coulnt afford aol. I am in PA. They want 5000 dollars and that sounds extremely excessive to me for only being 8 months overdue. I never got a bill in the mail and if they would have sent me one i would have paid it.

If it was an Internet lender they probably aren't even legal.

My husband and I had to get a couple payday loans and they said if we missed a payment then we had to pay the entire amount. 500 isn't a lot but its either rent or its this loan. I'm the only one working and he has been looking for a job for months now. I'm scared.

I went to:
Advance America
Money Tree
Checkmate

I forget the other one.

Hi there,
I recently borrowed a $500 loan from CashNetUSA in New Mexico, and will not be able to make the payments coming up, due to loss of employment. What measures should I take at this point to avoid money being deducted that I don't have? Should I change my bank account number?

Just send them an email (dated) and revoke their right to debt your account, then print it out and take it into your bank and hand it to your branch manager. You have a right to revoke ACH's per the EFTA law.

i ordered a pay day loan of 200 dollars from cashnetusa and i won't be able to pay it back on time. i live in california, which does not permit cashnetusa to extend payment options. can you give me any information on what i can do.

That isn't at all what the Ca. state payday loan laws say, you CAN request an extended payment plan.

I have 4 paydayloans with a total of about 1600.00 to payoff and that not including interest fees. It's hard to pay them back such as 170.00 everytwo weeks for one, 750.00 for one lump payment for the other, 90.00 everytwo weeks for a payday loan, and 500.00 dollar for the last loan. what should i do because I would like to pay them off as soon as possible.

Check out if these payday lenders are legal in your state. If they are not legal in your state, then you need to pay the principal balance only. The illegal payday lenders won't be able to come after you for the fees or any other extra charges. You should inform them the best time to contact you and ask them to call at that time and not when you're at work.

I work at a payday loan company, to be honest i dont think its the best option, i pay rent, bills etc and socialize, my wage isnt the highest, and i still manage to save something, not much but its there..after a few months it builds up and I have something to fall back on, I sometimes don't understand why other people dont try this!...anyway, I have realised some customers come in and take out more than they can pay back..lets say they are earning ??1000 a month, they will take out a loan of ??500 even though they have rent, bills, etc..they know damn well they cant pay it back! i find it stupid that they take out that amount knowing they cant pay it back...our company now is trying to be more responsible and only loaning 25% of a customers monthly income..like that, the customer has a higher chance of paying back...but seriously, some people should learn to manage their money.. it annoys me cos when its time to receive the money they are all friendly etc.but when its the day to re-pay the loan, they are all pissed off saying were rip offs, why didnt they think about it before???!!
