We keep hearing a lot of things about debt settlement and consolidation. But, my question is, can you settle debt with a collection agency?

The main point of debt consolidation IS to settle the debt with the collection agency. They ask for an amount and you say you can only pay a certain amount because of your job, other bills, etc. They always try to make you pay more but will ultimately agree on an amount in the middle of what you are offering and their offer.
