To make your creditor agree on a settlement offer, you have to convince your creditor that you’re unable to repay your debt. And, for that you have to write a letter explaining your financial hardship and the reasons why you won’t be able to repay the entire outstanding balance.

There is absolutely no point writing a letter....they will not negotiate over the phone. Call and ask.
