First time filing tax - What to pay a professional

I live in Dallas, Texas. This is the first time I will be filing tax. Can anyone suggest how much dollars will someone charge to file my tax on my behalf? I’m afraid if I become a victim of any tax fraud. What is the assurance that the person will file tax on my behalf? I don’t know how to file my tax.

The filing charges will depend on your situation and the person you are hiring. However, expect to pay $100 for consultation and filing for BASIC returns without considering itemizing, real estate , dependants etc. If you have others issues like self employment , withdrawals or property purchase expect a bill of more that $250 or even more

In order to prevent fraud while filing tax make sure to ask recommendations for tax preparer from friends , family or colleagues. You can check your CPA society or go through Accreditation Council's Web site for an accredited tax adviser.
