Before I answer your questions, I have a few questions for you.

1. What state are you in?
2. What kind of debt do you have?
3. How old is the debt?

You'll restart the SOL by making a payment. If the debt is more than 7 years old from the date of first delinquency, it can't be reported on your credit report.
