A debt collector is not suing you. An attorney is. Were you actually served with a summons by process server or did you just get papers in the mail? What state are you in? What type of debt is this?
Respond to the summons with
Respond to the summons with appropriate answers. You should logically defend yourself.
Secondly, if the SOL period is over, the debt is time-barred. You already know this fact now. But, you still owe the debt even if the SOL period has crossed. The debt will be there on your credit report.
