Settlement company has settled my debts and asking me to pay 30% of the debt enrolled in the program. Is it legal?

Yes, usually the debt settlement companies charge a certain percentage of your debt amount or the settled amount as their professional fees. But in most cases, they charge between 15% and 25% of the either amount. That's why, it's always advisable to read the terms and conditions carefully.

The fee is a bit high in comparison to other settlement companies. Didn't you check out the settlement fee structure before enrolling into the program? If it's written in the agreement and you have signed it, then you have to pay the fee. You can't settle your settlement fee.
