Husband of a loan owner
Second, my wife incurred the loan before we married, I am not a cosigner, and she is disabled. She has no way of making an income for herself. Since I didn't sign for the loan, I'm not legally required to pay it, right? I mean, I wish to help her pay it in time, but I have my own loans to focus on first.
Due to past issues, her credit score is shot, she has no wages to garnish, and the bank account is in my name. Is there any unforeseen things the credit agency could do that I'm not aware of?
You can send out a DV but
You can send out a DV but quite frankly it is pointless and will show you as a difficult debtor.
So the fact that I have
So the fact that I have already spoken on the phone to the collection agency on her behalf doesn't mean I can't send out the validation letter?
Won't the letter buy us some
Won't the letter buy us some breathing room at least? She doesn't have ss, but we were thinking of applying for the purposes of paying the debt.
There really is no point in
There really is no point in sending a DV....Allied is a Department of Ed vendor and the DOE will and can easily validate the debt.
Is she on social security or DSSI??? That income IS garnishable by the feds under administrative wage garnishment.
