i received a loan for 500. they've been taking 150 out of my banking account and so far it totals to 750. I called them and to see what my balance is and they said its 617.50!
They told me they've only been taking out the finance fee and if i wanted to pay the loan off i had to call them to do so.
this doesn't sound right to me, is it?

I looked and did not find Eastside to be licensed in the state of California. You need to search the forums to be on the safe side, I am kinda new at this. I would follow Ohio gals link on how to deal with illegal lenders step by step carefully. I just delt with Eastside and to my surprise got a PIF letter from them 3 days after I sent it to them. Close your bank account before you send the letters. Good luck to you! I had luck with sending a e-mail to Christy@eastsidelenders.com.

How could it sound right when you???ve already paid $750 against a loan of $500 and still your creditor is saying that your balance is $600 odd? I think you should consult a lawyer to help you get rid of this. Firms like myquicklawyers can help you pair up with an expert lawyer.

No.. she/he can do this themselves...Who wants to pay for an attorney when they can do this on their own....I did and so did alot of others..She/he is only responsible for the principal if the pdl is illegal in their state. And can ask for a refund for the overpayment. just delt with Eastside and they are sending me a refund because i filed a complaint with them through the dept of fin inst. and a pif letter. they were better to deal with than my other pdl companies. Good luck to you! My opinion you do not need an attorney..you got this!

Definitely do this yourself. It is not very hard. I am from MD and the Md Commission of Financial Institution brought a cease and desist against them. Went to hearing, the Commission won. MD residents who had a loan with Eastside was given restitution. Do yourself. It is a good possibility that you will get your refund. :p

I personally dealt with Eastside Lenders, and I am in NJ. Since I had already paid back the amount I borrowed and the some, I sent them an e-mail, letter certified and fax and advised them that since they were illegal in NJ I was not going to be sending any more money. Then turned it over to a collection agency who hounded me for about 6 months. I told them the same thing, and finally they left me alone. Sometimes it's best to ignore illegal lenders after you've closed your account and they don't have access to your money. You need to revoke the ACH authorization (send them a copy) and then switch accounts.
