MIDLAND FUNDING Q's
Date: Tue, 10/30/2012 - 21:18
I recently got a decent job, and I also recently noticed that Midland Funding has purchased several of my old debts from various other companies, and holds all together over $15000 (all credit cards) of my old debt. Another key aspect of information is that I live in Illinois and my SOL is 5 year and most of my debt is about 4 years old. Now after I read many things about Midland Funding, I am beginning to think they are trying to collect all of my debts from other companies to sue me. I am very worried because if that happens my employer will fire me as I explained the situation to them but I was told that any further discrepancies on my credit report might result in separation. Now I am getting a stable paycheck, and I will be able to start paying things off in a month, so how until then can I make sure Midland or any other collection agency wont sue or file to sue me. How do I negotiate with them, and lastly how would I know (aside from mail, as I am away from home) would know if they are already suing me?
Check the court dockets to know if you're being sued. Send a DV
Check the court dockets to know if you're being sued. Send a DV letter to the collection agency. If they are able to validate the debt, then it will be better to settle the debt asap. This will help you avoid lawsuits.
