I had the account charged off and it went to collections, and then back to citi..then when i called today after business hours a rep told me it's no longer at citi- what's the chance it went back to collections? I wanted to settle...and i'm worried about a lawsuit.

it was at collection agency for 5 months, then back to citibank for the last 3 months, and when i called today the "recovery" department was closed but i was informed that the account was no longer at citibank but only the "recovery" dept could tell me where it was. Since it got charged off, left citi, then back to citi for 3 months- are the chances that it went back out to collection?
Also, if it went to an attorney for litigation, what are the chances that i'll be able to settle before it actual goes to court? thank you!

The recovery department of a CC company is unique in that it handles charged off accounts usually dated a year plus. You will need to wait until they are open again... no other department can access the recovery department files. I work for a different cc company in retentions as an assistant manager and only my manager can access recovery files but he is not allowed to do anything with them or discuss it with customers. You will need to just hang probably until Monday or perhaps tomorrow.

At this point is probably is in the hands of an attorney. As soap said wiat for the letter in the mail.

so if no one can access this information then the person that told me that the account is no longer there-- it could still be there but be in recovery where they can't discuss it?

Also, what are the chances of an attorney settling if they have filed a lawsuit?

I will leave that part to soaplady but I will tell you citi does not settle very low and is aggressive.

No one who is working right now can access and tell you that information. The recovery department is the only department that can access and discuss with customers information about accounts in their department. I am not saying it is still there. I am saying to get the name of the CA it is currently with you will need to wiat until recovery opens up again. Not sure with citi, either tomorrow morning or not until monday.
