Do you have experience with Consumer Affairs Law Center? I was put in touch with the firm for Christopher D. Lane, and was told that the settlement program will get me out of approximately $30,000 worth of debt in 48 months, for a payment of under $500 a month. What is the fine print that I am missing? I want to get a second opinion but can't afford to hire another lawyer. Have people worked with the Consumer Affairs Law Center before, and had success? Thank you for your help. My name is Jill.

Just run a background check on this law office and ask around. See what their success rate is. That should give you a fair idea about how honest the business is. Other than that (and I am not meaning to scare you), settlement success depends a lot on the creditors you have. For example, Citi is an extremely tough and aggressive nut to crack and they opt for litigation over settlements and consolidation programs. Same with AmEx.
