I see that LVNV shows up on my credit as a long past due balance.I received a letter concerning this in July 2011 and requested signed documents, etc. I never received an answer. I received another collection letter in July 2012 and again requested this information with no answer. I have NEVER done business with Capital One whom they claim to be representing. Please tell me HOW to get this OFF my credit asap because I want to purchase a home soon.

Firstoff, let me ask this - did you at any point in time have an HSBC credit card? If so, then that is now owned by capital one. Did you ever have a chevy chase bank account? If so, that is also now owned by capital one. Be careful before you refuse to pay this... did they ever send anything in writing?
