Wage Garnishment.. now what?

I have really old debt in collections, Just when I was going to sign up with a settling company.. I recieved a garnishment at my job. What should I do? file bankrupcy.. still settle...?? I read that garnishments are just as bad as a bankrupcy.. and Im in college and afraid I wont be able to qualify for government student loans after this issue :( I dont know what to do
Dont worry about your federal loans ...they are not credit based

If they are garnishing your wages, you have already been sued. You need to check your credit report to find out when and how and contact the court for information if you were not served a summons.
