Received a phone call we owe $500.00 for one course (the course is part of another university) our daughter took as part of her education at a NY State University. They now say they didn't have proof she was a NY State resident. She went to get proof from the state. Now the says too bad, too late. They call every other day for payment. She has always lived in NY. What can we do?

For starters, it is your daughters debt, not yours. If the school required proof of residency at the time of enrollment, that is when they needed it. Most schools will not waive charges if proceedures are not followed.
