we foreclosed, got a 1099-c 3 years ago and now Dyck-Oneal is trying to collect. Is this a scam??

They are trying to get us to send them the 1099c form, but it has a lot of personal information on it. We were under the impression that the 1099c is a "cancellation". Anyone have a similar experience?

1099c is not for debt cancellation, rather its for filing tax against forgiven (fully or partially) debts. Was the remainder of the debt completely or partially forgiven? You need to find that out first. DO NOT send them a copy of the form. Just dispute the validity of the debt in writing.
