I am trying to cash a personal check written out to me. My concern is if the check does happen to bounce for whatever reason, would it be the person who wrote the check that would be held responsible or would the person cashing it be responsible? Also, what percentage do they usually take out when they cash it?

They who?

If you deposit it into your account and it bounces, they'll deduct the amount of the check back out of your account and likely charge you a fee.

Best bet is to go to the bank the check is drawn on and try to cash it there. Sometimes they may charge you a fee (around $5) for check cashing, if you don't have an account there.
