My boyfriend received a call from John C Bonewicz (attorny) saying there was an important issue to discuss. I think its in regards to his GE credit account. we have not called back since i am wondering how to approach this. Does anyone here have any information on this group? Advise? also we were thinking of sending a letter to them asking for the to validate the debt. We have not received anything in the mail in regards to this company. He understands we have to pay the bill, but i am trying to see how much time we have to work on an offer settlement and try to keep everything in writting. Do they have to send us something in the mail before trying to sue? Any input would be great.

so i spoke with them this morning and they are a 3rd party collection, and the orgina company is no longer involved. the guy from the collection agency said i have till 6pm today to pay or else, any advise. i asked for a letter and he said they already sent one. please let me know the next step its $1,800 owed. can they just sue just like that, and anyone know the timeline

I did call GE and they said they can no longer assist in the account, and i must call the collecting agency. the thing that got me is I asked if they would mail me a letter in regards to their information and the account and he (the collection agency) said they did mail it and they wont mail another, then he states i had till 6pm today 8/6/12 to pay in full or else. the he says i wish you luck. lol.. i then asked him "what if i called you tomorrow woiuld i have till 8/7/12 6pm to pay or not. what a joke. we want to pay but im sick and my medical bills are high. i was paying 20 a week then the GE website just stopped and i was unable to use it on June 15th, and i had received calls or letters, i know i should have been proactive, but life sometimes can be overwhelming. I live in california. i am willing to pay 200 a month to fast forward this bill, but he kept telling it was all or nothing by 6pm today. thank you

Oh yeah, CA's always try to say that you have to pay immediately 'or else'. But once first contact has been established, CA's have to send you a letter in the mail to explain your rights and give you the opportunity to dispute. Lawfirm CA's like to be extra pushy because its easy to scare consumers since after all, if a lawfirm is calling you about something, it must be serious!

Just send off the DV letter and go from there, make sure when you send the letter to tell them to stop calling you.

Yeah I know, they are sneaky. doing my letter and sending it cert mail, plus faxing it too. trying to buy time here. Maybe if i can i will have the total amount saved and can just pay it off. since the letter is dated Aug 2 and it states I have 30 days to reply, whats the suggestion on how fast should i send it out?

ok, I am sending a letter also stating they have all our current contact information and should not be contacting anyone else in regards to the account. I am also sending the DV letter today. is it wise to fax them and cert mail them too? I know we owe the money and right now i am really trying to get as much as I can together to pay them, just trying to buy time right now. House payments come first...
