Stafford Student Loan Dept
I am being harrassed and being charged 30+% collection fees while unemployed and I am trying to arrange for minimal payment in order to try to bring things in line, however, they will not work with me. I tried to phone them back today before the "deadline" to have future paychecks garnished and the phone number says with a recording "the facility restriction on your phone is invalid". I have NO idea what that means. And...they phone and don't leave a message on my cell with any area code hidden and a different phone number. I am quite skeptical. Any suggestions.?

How are they harassing you?? By calling you???
Your interest is accruing daily....collection fees are assessed by federal law. You cannot "bring things in line" by making minimal payments.
FYI...if you are unemployed they cannot garnish you. Consolidate you loans ASAP.
