Generally your account would have been sold to the new owner, if they're in the same business.
Did they have your correct contact information?

Your loan would still be with the lender you borrowed from.

I wasn't thinking of this being a typical student loan. I assumed it was one of those programs where you pay the schood directly as you go.

These types of programs do qualify for federal financial aid...tuition for a 6 month program typically runs $8-$12k and they usually end up maxing out pells, staffords and sometimes private loans for these programs. Since the poster dropped out well into the program, they would have been responsible for 100% of the cost The new school that took over offers the same program.

i was taking Medical Administrative Assistant at Academy of healing arts. Attended the school for 4 months instead of 6. The total amount for the tuition is $15,000. That includes all books and uniforms. One of the loans was Stafford loans and i cant remember what the other one was. But i do remember the lady signed me up for two types of loans. Put two loans together I was approved for $9,500. Leaving me a balance plus with interest. I made $75 payments for 4 months. When i stopped attending, I stopped making payments.
Last year I received w2 from the school so I can file it on my tax. I am worried about next year's tax. Some say IRS can take your income tax if you still owe student loan etc. I called my school but i was told they dont have any information regarding my account/loan, because theyre no longer Academy of Healing Arts, the school name changed to MILAN INSTITUTE. I was told to log in to www.nslds.ed.gov . I logged in there but it saying that i my identifier cannot be found. i dont know what to do...

These private schools do a horrible job explaining loan responsiblities and pointing out very important information on loan prom notes.
The poster should have been receiving multiple letters from her lenders by now....

i never heard or received any letter from the school. i called the school but the guy i talked to told me, they have no access to my account. he told me to log in to nslds.ed.gov i signed in and everything but its saying my identifiers cannot be found. whats that suppose to mean |
If you read my post, you would see that you should have been receiving notices from you LENDER, not the school. The school did not give you a loan....you applied for financial aid and an outside agency gave you the loans/grants. Did you keep any of your copies?
Do you know if you borrowed private or federal funds? Have you moved? Loans become due 6 months after you seperate from your school, which would have been june/july. That would put you 4-5 months into the default process.
There is a contact us button on the nslds.ed.gov site. Use it. You might also want to pull a copy of your credit report. kamnnt
