I recently was approved for disability because I am losing lung capacity. and on Oxygen 24/7. I have an agency threating to garnish my disabilty check. I know that they can garnishee but can they do it if you are below the poverty line, and if so can it be the max of 15%. I have tried to explain to them right now i do not have a Doctor as the one i had refuses to take state medical and to fill out the paperwork they want she will charge me. I am at my wits end i don't know what to do anymore.


a collector can't garnish SS/DI unless maybe it's for a student loan,and they can not seize your bank account if your disability is DD there.who is this agency?

It is an old student loan, the guy i talked to was very rude infact hung up on me as i tried to explain what was going on said that he was going to take the 15% and never told me who he was that was holding the loan or who the company was that was calling

First what is DOC and IRC, and I am still wondering if you actually have to make a certain amount before they can garnishee you. I only make $674 a month and if they take 15 % i will be on the street.
