Allied Interstate has contacted us about my husban
Allied Interstate has contacted us about my husband's past due loan, it went to them from Sallie Mae and we have been paying them regularly but they are telling us now that we can either settle with them or it will go to litigation. I don't see why they would/should be unwilling to allow us to continue making payments, especially since we have been. Any advice?

If allied is calling, you are not just past due, you are in default. When you default the balance becomes due in full immediately. Sallie Mae may be cashing your payments, but it doesnt mean you are in satisfactory repayment and Allied can recommend litigation if it is a private loan. Even making payments, sallie mae will sue you.
