Wage Garnishment and Credit Report

My wages are currently being garnished for an old Discover Card debt. Once I have paid in full, can I have the judgement and negative account information removed from my credit report? If not, how long does it stay on my credit report?

Thank you very much!

Generally, negative items will remain on your credit report for at least 7-10 years. If you want to remove it from your credit report before that time period, then you can contact with your creditors. Once the judgment is paid, you can get a notice from the plaintiff that the debt has been repaid through the court. Then you may request the credit bureaus to remove the item from the credit report.
