I am currently being garnished and was told that there was nothing I can do. I did contact a lending consulting firm and they said for 699.00 they will stop the garnishment and I would after 8wks qualify for consolidation or forbearance. I would be taking out a second loan. WOULD this be something good to do rather than being garnished

What a major rip off. What they want you do is consolidate with Direct Loans....consolidating costs NOTHING! However, it used to be that if you were being garnished you were ineligible for a Direct Loan Consolidation. I just checked the the website and I dont see that in there anymore. I am going to suggest you call the Direct Loan Consolidation Loan program and ask if you are eligible. Then give those rip off artists the middle finger!!
