ok i did the settlements and they gave me the whole speech about the 1099's, is there a deadline for them to send them out by? we like to get our taxes done early to get it out of the way? how long should we wait for them???

Someone I know who is in the same situation was told by one of their creditors that they report the settlement to the government and it's up to the gov. whether or not they send you a 1099. Anyone else ever hear this???
