Green Mortgage

Has anyone here ever taken a green mortgage? Is it true that it helps to save extra cash? What does it actually mean? I am in the process of taking a mortgage and one of my friend mentioned the word green mortgage. What is it all about?

Yes, green does help to save cash. Undoubtedly one of the best tools for making your house more affordable when saving on the cost of power, heating and cooling is the energy-efficient, or "green," mortgage. The main idea is that if the borrower's utility bills are less, he/she can spend more money toward the mortgage payment. The result is the ability to borrow more and possibly get a better house without spending more per month than you would with a conventional mortgage. Green mortgage also provides discounts on loan fees or interest rates for homes that are certified as energy-efficient.[LEFT][COLOR=#000000]
