ACS-Direct Loans Consolidation Issue

This has been a very frustrating and on-going issue between Direct Loans Consolidation and ACS, Inc. I have only one subsidized stafford loan that is both current and in repayment with ACS. Direct Loans sent the payment to ACS on June 14th and its now August 6th. I had Direct Loans forward the problem on to their research team on July 14th to find out what the issue is and why ACS has not processed the payment. Here is what I know thus far: My loan is an FFELP loan serviced by ACS and Direct Loans sent the payment to ACS-Dept. of Ed. However, that should not be an issue as they can forward the payment to ACS-FFELP. ACS-Dept. of ED has access to my account with ACS-FFELP (since its one whole organization). I know the address is not the issue since ACS sent in the Payoff Requests to Direct Loans twice.

Anyways, I have been calling all three departments each week just trying to follow-up. ACS has been fairly helpful in relaying me information and the customer reps at Direct Loans have been hit and miss. All I know is that its been over 45 days and ACS is either sitting on the payment, processed into the wrong acct. , or is just really really slow at processing the payment. So I am paying on the ACS loan (which is that much compared to my private student loans with Sallie Mae) while I ride out this issue. All in all its a frustrating process and am just curious if anyone else is experiencing a similar problem.

I will say that I am very pleased with the way I am treated by Sallie Mae though, I mean all my federal loans were paid and consolidated within the same exact week that Direct Loans sent the payment out. Thanks.

OMG. I am having the same problem. I had loans with sallie mae, fed loan servicing, and ACS. Sallie Mae and Fed loan servicing were paid by Direct loans in June... but somehow ACS still hasn't recieved the payment. I am also trying to buy a house and because of the double amt (money with ACS and Direct loans that is the same money) i am having trouble getting a clear to close. I make some phone calls at the end of august and ACS blames Direct loans saying they sent an "IOU". Direct loans blames ACS and we find out that ACS sent the payment back on 8/24... ok. so Direct loans re-issues a payment on 8/26... and it is now 9/9 and I am begging the manager at ACS to process my payment or I am going to lose my house... they really dont seem to care and continue to tell me it takes 30 days to process the payment. The manager at ACS finally tells me I can get it expidited by getting her the amts and disbursement IDs from Direct loans... I do, but then she tells me I didn't get what she wanted and it will take 24-48hrs for banking to make a decision on whether they can or cannot process my payment from the information given. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Well today is the 48hr mark... I am sure I will get a "we cannot process the payment" and I will lose the house I am buying or have to pay a per diem until they process the payment and give me a letter stating that my loans were paid in full. Is this really too much to ask for?

I too am having the same problem. I consolidated with Direct Loans back in March, they sent a check to ACS on 5/24. I've been making payments on both accounts since I don't want anything to happen to my credit. I called twice in June...ACS told me it takes 45 days and then I will get a letter that my loan has been consolidated, Direct said they sent the check. I call twice in July, Direct tells me my case has moved onto the "action team."...sounds serious right? They say to call back in 2 weeks, in the meantime ACS still gives me the same answer. I call mid August....still nothing. I call Direct today and they tell me they sent another check to them 8/24. I guess it's too early to call ACS to see if they received the check...I guess i'll be waiting another 45 days to call again! I asked Direct if there was a way to cancel with them and just get a refund of my payments to put towards ACS, but since it's consolidated I'm screwed and will have to continue making 2 payments and interest that I will never get back!

Just heads up for anyone else. I am having so much trouble with Direct Loans its not even funny. I like my bills to be paid on time as need to preserve my credit score so I can take out a bigger loan later on for medical school. So when I got my first bill from them I went and set up automatic payment by my bank. Well one day I get a call from direct loans saying that I am past due. I go to my bank and it shows I paid, so I call Direct loans and they say I was past due 2 months. I was in shock! I asked how come and she said that my payment went up to 143 and I was just paying the 90. well I get pissed for not notifying me and I get a manager on the phone and I asked why my bill went up. She said that they had an another account under different social number that I had so they just combined it. That got me scared. So I asked for a copy of my promisary note and a social security number that they had the account under. Well she refused to tell me and said she will send it in a mail. Just not long ago I got a copy of my prom. note but no socials. I just called the account rep again and explained the whole situation, he said that they dispursed 5G to my school for 2010! I graduated in 2009! The dispursement amount is not shown in the account summary and there is no note that corrections were made something they suppose to do. So now I have to call school so they can refund them. I dont get it how they can disburse an amount after you signed an exit form??? What does the school does with the money if I never noticed the mistake and just paid off the balance? I think I need to contact fradulance department or an atty. Any suggestions?
