It's not good to default on your loans since it dents your credit report that takes years to recover and there’s always a chance that the loan provider may sue you.
If you're unable to make the payments with your current job, try to get a second job. You can also try online jobs where you can work at your convenience and earn some extra cash. If you've stuffs in your house that you don't use, you can sell them online or go for 'yard sale'. All these options will allow you to earn some extra cash which might help you to pay off your loan faster.
