Boosting Participation


Those of you who were here a year or two ago may remember when a certain member posted in the Pub "Whats for Dinner in Your House Tonite?" That thread had literally thousands of viewers and ran for around a year until someone started clandestine undermining remarks about the member, driving her from the site! The person that instigated that is no longer here either and I will never know who was truthful!
One guy suggested "How about a thread just for guys?" and the distaff side pounced all over it and just took the men to the mat. But it was fun! Another was when a collector called someone "smarty pants" and the members ran with that bringing up every childhood tease that they could remember like rubber and glue and roly poly chicken!
What has happened? I posted a thread the other night about some offshore clowns that may be calling you soon! No readers or replies! I bumped it this AM and 9 readers, no replies!
I feel that the original members who kept up a great spirit regardless of how difficult their lives became have been replaced by a group of "If it does not help me I do not care" people! If so, that is a shame as the key to happiness when you are down is to help others to get up!
It has only been a year or two so I know it is not a different, yet indifferent generation! I surmise that it must be the economy! That would be a shame if, this time, the economic situation is robbing Americans of their positive spirit and joy! That is exactly what the enemy wants!
Your thoughts? Tell me true!


I don't know what to say, I just know there are a lot of Mods, but very few participate on a regular basis which makes the load a lot heavier for the Mods who do. I am so busy replying to the payday loan section, and researching information I have little or no time for reading other stuff. I have also noticed that my PM's are flooded with questions, so sometimes I spend a lot of time just answering PM'S!

Frog, I remember the What's for dinner thread! That was a fun one, which I think is why it had such a long shelf life. I think part of the reason that participation is down is that people are having to work harder and longer to keep what is theirs. In my case, I am trying to increase my participation-but what we need is something like that--a silly thread that we can just have fun with.

Frogpatch!!! Hey FFL!!!!! I swear that I am going to email you tonight!! I miss you!!! I miss the old Debtcc days, esp the chat room......and all my good friends here.....looks like most of them disappeared....Goudah and I are still the best of friends but I have lost touch with everyone else :(

Awww thanks Paul!! I have missed you! I miss so many people that don't appear to be here anymore....Bossy, Suebee, 2nband, puddlejmpr, finsfan...life just totally got in the way of me posting and I'm SOOOO out of touch with the debtcc world and the laws....I'm not going to be very useful here.....

So nice to see you again.

Your absence reminded us of Wordsworth's "OFT I (DebtCC) had heard of SassnLucy.." Welcome home again. :) Bossy and Puddle were here last month. finsfan and 2nband came here nearly nine months back. Hope all are doing well. During this period many new members' entered DebtCC world as well.

Stick to the first two stickies in this forum to understand the changes. Like PAUL said we all are here for you.

I think I'm back now.

It's been a long, strange trip, trying to work through some family stuff. I think it's all sorted now, but I won't swear to it. I've been popping in for a few minutes every now and again. Usually, I only have time to zap some spams, then off to deal with the next crisis.

I'll spend as much time here as possible, but I'm going to be scarce for a week or two, end of July. Taking the bike to Oklahoma, to check on family and visit my dad's gravesite. He passed away last November, and nobody down home even bothered to try and tell me. Go figure.

Shazzers...I had my gall bladder taken out a couple years ago and had a very fast recovery and felt much better right away. Hope you are feeling a lot better now.

Jason..thanks for the welcome, good to see you here..and you know I'm a rock star :)

Frogpatch...I'm gonna stick around.....not sure how frequently I'll be posting for the time being...I'm in the middle of moving and stuff...that's why I haven't sent you that email I promised....but you know you are my #1 FFL.
