You can consolidate federal as well private student loans. But, make sure that you do them separately. Consolidating several student loans into one will help you to pay off your loans in an easy way.

Student loans cannot be included a a debt consolidation program with other debts......pretty sure that is what the OP is asking. Federal loans can be consolidated thru the Direct Loan program.
