They sent me a letter stating the following upon request:
"Integrity Financial Partners, Inc. is authorized by Chase / Washington Mutual to accept a settlement of $2100.00 is paid on the above referenced account by 02/17/2010.
We are not obligated to renew this offer.
This communication from a debt collector is an attempt to collect a debt and any information obtained will be used for that purpose."
Can anyone verify paying a debt and settling with this group?? Its the only outstanding negative item on my credit report.
You want to make sure that the settlement agreement also states
You want to make sure that the settlement agreement also states that once this amount is paid that the account is settled and closed. You don't want them selling the remainder off. Also be aware that you very well may have to pay taxes on the forgiven amount, they may send you a 1099c.
